How Much Does a Patio Cost in San Antonio?

If you're planning a patio, one of the first questions is usually the obvious one: How much is this going to cost?
For a professionally installed 12' × 12' patio in San Antonio, the projects we build can range from about $1,500 for a simple crushed granite patio to $7,000+ for concrete with a decorative flagstone finish. Decks generally start higher.
That's a big range, but the material is only part of the equation.
What Changes the Cost of a Patio?
The material. Concrete, pavers, flagstone and permeable materials all have different material and installation costs.
The size. A larger patio requires more material and labor, although pricing isn't always as simple as multiplying a square-foot price.
The yard itself. Slope, drainage and retaining needs can change how much work has to happen before the finished patio goes in.
What's already there. Removing an existing patio, deck or other structure adds demolition and disposal.
Access. Tight backyard access can affect labor and how materials and equipment get to the work area.
This is why we don't recommend choosing a patio based on square-foot pricing alone. The patio needs to work with the yard around it, especially when it comes to grade and drainage.
What About a Deck?
If your yard has a significant slope or elevation change, a deck may make more sense than trying to create a level patio with extensive grading or retaining walls.
For the same 12' × 12' comparison, a cedar deck is approximately $9,000, while composite decking is roughly $8,500–$12,000.
