Hill Country Acre
This custom design-build project near the Hill Country was both challenging and rewarding, with over an acre of landscaping, major grade changes, and a need for sustainable, low-water solutions. From ultra-drought-resistant turf to wildflower meadows and underground drainage systems, the project was planned around the property's grade, water movement, and the realities of maintaining more than an acre in South Texas.
Like many of our clients, they wanted someone who could manage the entire project instead of coordinating multiple contractors. Working with this family was a joy and seeing their yard become a true retreat makes all the hard work worth it.

A Transformed Space
This Boerne family came to us with a challenging backyard: a steep slope, a torn-up landscape post-pool install, and a desire to enjoy their outdoor space. Referred by their daughter, a past VHS client, they trusted us to redesign their yard from the ground up. They wanted one team that could solve the grading, landscaping, and outdoor living challenges together instead of treating them as separate projects.
The finished yard is tailored to how they live and entertain. With synthetic turf around the pool, Corten planters lining the beds, and a new patio and gazebo for gathering, their once-difficult space is now the heart of their home.

Boerne Backyard
Byron walks you through the transformation of a backyard that was once nearly unusable. After a pool installation left the yard in disarray, we came in to reimagine the space with purpose and personality. We installed a retaining wall to level the yard, synthetic turf for clean usability around the pool, and custom Corten planters to frame the space with texture and color. A new patio and gazebo offer room to gather, and integrated outdoor lighting, fully controllable from the client’s phone, adds ambiance and convenience. Today, the family describes their backyard as a resort they never want to leave.

We worked an outdoor kitchen, gathering space, privacy planting, and better connections through the property into a relatively compact footprint.

We brought that vision to life with a modern outdoor kitchen, Corten planters for privacy and greenery, and a newly designed driveway and walkway that connect the home to their Airstream, Dottie. Every element was tailored to match the home’s architecture and the client’s lifestyle, turning a compact yard into a fully functional, integrated outdoor living space.

Built for Fun
This family wanted a yard their kids could actually grow up in. We converted their builder patio into a screened porch with a pine ceiling, built out a pergola for grilling and gathering, added a custom projector screen trellis that turned Fridays into movie nights, and filled new garden beds with pollinator plants that now bring butterflies through daily. No gas lines, no electrical runs, no compromises. Just a backyard they use every week.
