Chris Verme, our founder, was born and raised in San Antonio. He’s always loved being outdoors, growing things, building things, and turning spaces into something beautiful. In 1996, he started VHS with a mower, a shovel, and a mission to help his neighbors care for their yards.
What began as simple landscape maintenance quickly grew. By 1999, VHS became a full-service landscaping company. Today, we offer everything from landscape design to decks and fences, rainwater harvesting, generators, sheds, plunge pools, and complete outdoor transformations.
While the company has grown, our values haven’t changed. Chris is still hands-on, and he still believes in doing things the right way the first time. That same commitment to quality runs through every crew member, many of whom have been with us for years.

Chris Verme started VHS in 1996 and has been the sole owner ever since. Chris has always been drawn to the outdoors, where his love for horticulture and construction first took root. That passion continues to drive how VHS operates today. Chris' true love is building beauty from the ground up, so don’t be surprised if you see him on your job site lending a hand.
A graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio, Chris studied Construction Management, Finance, and General Management. He combines that education with decades of real-world experience to help clients turn outdoor living dreams into lasting, functional spaces.

Sean
Sean has a wealth of masonry experience and puts it to good use as one of our hardscape managers. When we need creative ideas for stone projects, Sean is the first person we turn to - his eye for stone is unparalleled!
Whether you're looking to install a new new paver patio, beautiful stone kitchen, or a timeless flagstone walkway, you are sure to have the pleasure of working with Sean to make your dreams a reality. Not only does he oversee and estimate projects, but he also leads and teaches by example, and you'll often find him on-site, hands-on with the installation processes.

Project Manager
Jose is a rising star at VHS Outdoor Living, bringing energy, insight, and drive to every phase of a project. Whether he’s managing a job site, consulting with clients, or preparing estimates, Jose approaches each task with curiosity and precision.
Known for his passion for research and commitment to continuous improvement, Jose is always looking for smarter, more efficient ways to bring outdoor spaces to life. His willingness to take on challenges and his enthusiasm for innovation make him an essential part of the team.

Byron
Project Manager
With roots in farming and ranching, Byron brings a strong work ethic and a wide range of hands-on skills to every project he leads. With over 30 years of experience in the industry, Byron has spent his career guiding teams, solving problems, and building strong relationships.
Known for his deep knowledge and practical expertise, Byron is often the go-to guy for tough questions and technical challenges. As a licensed irrigator, he's also our in-house expert on sprinklers, drainage, and water management systems. We're proud to have him as a cornerstone of the VHS team.
Rebecca
Client Experience & Design Coordinator
Rebecca is a native San Antonian whose lifelong love of playing in the dirt led her to earn a degree in soil science and step straight into life as a farm manager after college. Over the years, she discovered her true home in horticulture and landscaping - first as a hands‑on gardener, then as a project manager guiding each job from concept to completion. Rebecca delights in crafting beautiful outdoor spaces where friends and family can gather, and takes pride in turning clients into lifelong fans with thoughtful design, quality workmanship, and a warm, collaborative approach.

Jenn is the creative force behind the scenes at VHS Outdoor Living. She brings vision, strategy, and storytelling to everything she touches, from designing the website and social media content to managing newsletters, designing graphics, and ensuring the brand reflects the heart of the business.
With a passion for community and a keen eye for design, her work makes it easy for clients to see the care and creativity that VHS pours into every project.
When she’s not working her digital magic, Jenn is building community through her educational work and empowering others through inclusive, people-centered storytelling.
