More Than a Slab
Concrete is one of those materials that can be as practical or as interesting as you want it to be. We use it for the obvious things like driveways, patios, walkways, and pool decks, but also for custom benches, planters, steps, seat walls, and outdoor kitchen countertops.
Because it's poured in place, we're not limited to something sitting on a shelf in a standard size. We can play with shape, scale, finish, and details to make concrete part of the design instead of just the thing underneath it.

San Antonio is hard on outdoor materials. Long stretches of heat, intense sun, heavy rain when it finally comes, and changing soil conditions all need to be considered when adding concrete to a property. Hot weather in particular can speed moisture loss and setting during concrete placement, which can increase the potential for problems if it isn't handled appropriately.
That doesn't mean concrete isn't a great choice here. It means the project needs to be planned for here. We consider the site, drainage, surrounding landscape, intended use, and weather conditions instead of treating every pour the same.

Concrete changes how water moves through your property. We consider grade, runoff, low spots, and drainage before the pour so the new surface doesn't solve one problem while creating another.
Cracks Happen
No honest contractor can promise concrete will never crack. Concrete moves. Good prep and properly placed joints help control where cracking happens and keep it performing the way it should.

Is concrete or pavers better for a patio? Neither is automatically better. Concrete can create a clean, continuous surface and offers plenty of decorative options. Pavers give you a different look and can be individually replaced if needed. Cost, style, site conditions, and how you plan to use the space all matter. We work with both, so we'll recommend the material we think makes the most sense for your project.

Can you extend an existing patio or driveway? Yes. We can add onto existing concrete, but new and old concrete won't necessarily look identical. Age, weather, the original mix, and finish can all affect color. Sometimes it makes more sense to make the transition intentional rather than trying to create a match that won't truly disappear.
How long before I can use new concrete? It depends on what the concrete will be used for. Foot traffic, patio furniture, and vehicles don't all put the same demands on a new pour. We'll tell you when your specific concrete is ready to walk on, furnish, or drive on rather than giving you one rule for everything.
