Poolside to Courtside

This Timberwood Park family already had a pool, but the rest of the backyard wasn't giving them much reason to stay outside. Beyond swimming, they rarely used it. The yard was a mix of scattered plants, rocks, old tree stumps, and grass, without a comfortable place for the kids to play or for the family to simply spend time together. They wanted to turn it into a backyard that worked for everyday life, not just pool days.

We designed the space to feel more like a series of outdoor rooms, each with its own purpose while still feeling connected. A seating area with a fire pit and Shadow Stone gives them a place to gather, while a pergola creates shade for meals and morning coffee. Raised planters make room for vegetables and flowers to cut and bring inside, and tropical landscaping adds a lush backdrop around the pool. One of the simplest changes has also made one of the biggest differences: a healthy stretch of natural grass where the kids can run, play, and set up a volleyball net. Now the pool is just one part of the backyard. The family is outside every day, eating together, having coffee, gardening, playing volleyball, sitting by the fire, or just enjoying a yard that finally feels like part of their home.
