Modern Texas Backyard Retreat

This backyard belongs to a returning client. We designed the outdoor space at their previous home, and when they started building their new home in Garden Ridge, they brought us back before construction was even finished.

Denali Pools designed and installed the pool, while we designed the landscaping and outdoor living spaces around it. Our teams stayed in close communication throughout construction, coordinating elevations, concrete, and other details to keep things moving smoothly for the client.

The clients wanted a clean, modern look with a grey palette. We installed stained and stamped concrete throughout the patio and pool deck for a high-end look without the cost of tile. Raised stone planters around the pool were capped to match the pool coping, carrying the same finish through the space.

A custom steel pergola was fabricated for the pool deck and painted matte black, with modern horizontal railings and space planned for a future hot tub. We also installed a full stormwater drainage system to manage runoff from the gutters and neighboring property.

The side yard was designed for growing. Raised stone garden beds make vegetables and herbs easy to reach, with built-in irrigation for lower maintenance. We also planted a small vineyard for the family to grow their own grapes. A horizontal cedar privacy fence with dark-stained posts adds warmth and privacy around the backyard.

The result is a backyard that feels polished but still very personal to the family. There’s a place to swim, a shady spot to relax, vegetables and herbs growing just off the patio, and even grapes on the vine.
