Hill Country Cottage Garden – New Build Transformation

They say good things come in small packages, and this Hill Country cottage garden fits a lot of living into a relatively small backyard. When the homeowners moved into their new San Antonio home, the steep, sloped yard wasn’t giving their family much usable space. They wanted a backyard with room to play, garden, and make better use of natural resources.

Our team redesigned the yard to create distinct, functional spaces while working with the challenging grade. A natural grass play area gives the kids room to run, while raised garden beds and galvanized tubs create dedicated space for growing vegetables and plants. We also incorporated a custom rainwater catchment system to collect and reuse water throughout the landscape.

Native and Texas-adapted plants, natural stone, and cottage-inspired details bring the homeowners’ vision to life while keeping the landscape practical for San Antonio’s climate.

The finished space proves you don’t need a huge backyard to do a lot with it. It’s a cozy Hill Country garden with room for growing, playing, and spending time outside.
